SEEKING VOLUNTEERS FOR FUNDRAISING & EVENTS COMMITEE
Meet Julia, Our New Project Director!
Hello!
My name is Julia Girmenia, and I am beyond excited to join Not Far From The Tree! I am really excited to meet and learn from everyone who is involved with NFFTT, roll up my sleeves, and pick all the fruit we can to ensure everyone has access to fresh fruit. A special thank you goes out to Megan Anevich for supporting me through this transition and leading NFFTT to this point. I’ve got some big shoes to fill but am excited to pick up where she and the team left off.
Over the past ten years, I have worked with organizations across Canada to create and deliver programming for children, youth, adults and seniors in the arts and city building sector with a focus on education, mentorship and community development. Before joining Not Far From The Tree I worked at Evergreen on their national and local programs, UforChange’s youth art education program, and even associate directed a play with Emancipation Arts a few years back. In my spare time I hosts drives to collect feminine hygiene products for shelters in Ontario. I enjoy getting creative and coming up with solutions, thinking outside of the box, and delivering lasting impact while working alongside communities on the front line.
Some fun facts about me are:
- If I see a beautiful mural or graffiti, guarantee I will stop to take a photo
- Traveling off the beaten path is my jam
- I will try any type of food
- Love biking around the city like a tourist
- All fruit is my favourite but I am most excited to pick some fresh cherries and berries
Looking forward to meeting everyone this season!
Julia!
