We will be donating some of our fruit to Community

We will be donating some of our fruit to Community Fridges Toronto again this season!

The community fridges are in operation 24-hours a day, 7 days a week so fruit donations can be made any time. There might be times when the community fridge has too much food and in that case CFTO encourages volunteers, if they are able to, to redistribute the food to a different location that may have less food that day (map of locations included in the last slide)

PLEASE NOTE: The community fridges will NOT be listed on the Portal as agencies, but it is an option for the entire pick team to help with the distribution of large fruit picks. You are more than welcome to donate from your own personal share, or Pick Leaders can decide to split the donation between the fridges and a brick-and-mortar Partner Agency.

Apple season is right around the corner and we wan

Apple season is right around the corner and we want to ensure that apples are ripe when the pick team arrives to pick your fruit! Please look over this apple ripening guide prior to scheduling your picks.

We ask that you submit a fruit pick request 3-5 days before your fruit is ready. A good time to do this is when the seeds of the apples are brown or when the apples taste sweet and juicy. Apples on the outside of the tree and those that get more sun exposure will ripen first, so check apples on different parts of the tree for ripeness, including the lower branches.

Note: Falling apples are not necessarily an indication that they are ready to harvest.
