Thank you for showing our cargo bikes some love!
You can’t miss them on the streets – our big cargo bikes packed with our picking poles and cherry buckets en route to and from picks. Without these trusty bikes, our work wouldn’t be possible. Each year we make them work super hard, covering hundreds of kilometers to bring equipment to picking sites and deliver fruit to agency partners.
Not Far From The Tree is committed to urban sustainability and decreasing pollution. That’s why this June we participated in #BikeMonth. We took Bike Month as an opportunity to think about why we cycle and how biking is connected to our work at NFFTT: a means to connect individuals and communities, a tool to empower outdoor activity and learning, and often the quickest way to get around Toronto!
In the spirit of #BikeMonth, we reached out to our community to help us raise funds to give our fleet at little TLC. Our bikes—which link together our primary spheres of work—were in need of some equipment updates and tune-ups.
We’ve so enjoyed connecting with you over the phone, in our office and at the The Pocket Eco Fair and Leslieville Tree Festival. As a result of this fabulous support, we raised $584.00 – over halfway to the goal we set! Because of this, we’ve been able to update some tired bottom brackets, brake cables, chains, housing, and tubing! Taking a spin on our NFFTT bikes has never felt so smooth.
♥ Thank you to everyone who supported our Bike Month campaign! ♥
