From tree to mug

The arrival of Toronto’s summertime highs brings back many of your favourite things: beach blanket picnics, ferry trips to the island, barbecues with friends, bike rides through forested valleys, cold beer on a patio, freshly picked local fruit, donating to your favourite Toronto non-profit.

The last one might not have been as obvious, but this year, Not Far From The Tree wants to offer you the chance to enjoy a few of your favourite things in delicious combination.

Here at Not Far From The Tree, we have recently launched our first crowdfunding campaign hoping that you want to help us increase our picking power and make sure that every last city-grown peach, plum, and pear is enjoyed (by more than just the city’s squirrel population).

For your support there are many great prizes, but perhaps the most delicious is a two-parter that is sure to whet the palate of many Torontonians. For a $150 donation you will be guaranteed a spot on an early July cherry pick, and come August you will receive two growlers (equivalent to 12 bottles) of delightfully thirst-quenching, limited edition beer made with the very cherries that you picked! And who better to craft such a delicious brew than Toronto’s favourite microbrewery, Bellwoods Brewery. A multiple Canadian Brewing Awards winner and favourite haunt among dyed-in-the-wool beer enthusiasts as well as the newly converted, Bellwoods has graciously agreed to create small-batch brew that incorporates the freshly picked cherries from your urban harvest adventure.

I, for one, can’t think of a better way to enjoy the fruits of your labour (pun intended). But you better hurry; there are only 3 spots left for this prize and only 12 days left in the campaign. So make sure you secure your spot today!
