Welcoming our New Steering Committee Chair!

There’s been a change in leadership on our Steering Committee, and we are excited to welcome Nicole Vadori to her new role as Committee Chair! Not Far From the Tree would first like to extend our deepest gratitude to Danielle Goldfinger, who has been with the organization since 2013, first as Interim Projector Director, and then as Chair of our Steering Committee. We wish Danielle all the best!

Here’s a message from Nicole, our new Steering Committee Chair:

“Hello NFFTT Community, I’m writing to share some exciting news!

I’m very happy to let you know that I’ve taken on the role of Chair of the NFFTT Steering Committee. I joined NFFTT a little over a year ago and I have been consistently surprised by the impact this small but mighty project has achieved.

Under Sue’s strong leadership as Project Director, and Danielle’s dedication as former Chair, I’ve witnessed record harvests, unsurpassed volunteer engagement, increased homeowner participation and community agencies served, remarkable passion and creativity from NFFTT staff and fellow steering committee members, solid financial positions, and innovative funding strategies.

I would like to thank Danielle for all of her contributions to these inspiring results. Danielle has been a part of NFFTT since 2013, and she has certainly left a mark. I’m super excited to pick up where she has left off and continue to help drive the upward trend in making positive impacts in our Toronto communities.

I look forward to working with Sue and the Steering Committee, supporting our journey to diversify funding through social enterprise and new sponsorships, as well as streamline operations so that more trees can be picked by more volunteers, with the result of more fruit in the hands (and tummies) of Torontonians.

It’s truly an honor to be a part of NFFTT. I look forward to many fruitful years ahead!

Nicole”

Nicole Vadori is a Senior Manager with the Energy and Sustainability group for TD Bank, working to minimize the bank’s carbon footprint. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration and is a Professional Engineer. In her previous life she was a ballroom and latin dancer and owned and operated a small dance studio, and she also worked in environmental consulting for 8+ years focusing on air quality, climate change, and greenhouse gas regulation.

When we asked Nicole who she would  go on a pick with if she could choose anyone in the world, living or dead, she said Sir Isacc Newton, as events on the pick could inspire another scientific breakthrough. Not Far From the Tree is very excited to have Nicole with us as we wrap up our 8th picking season.

Looking forward to many more seasons together,

Not Far From the Tree
